Nueces County Clerk, Kara Sands, recently visited Flour Bluff HS to talk to students about the upcoming election. Her goal in visiting the Economics students was to encourage them to get involved with the election process by working election polls and registering to vote.
“Working an election poll will provide students a great hands-on civic lesson,” said Sands. “They’ll learn the fundamentals of the election process which will instill a life-long appreciation of exercising their right to vote.”
Nueces County is expanding their election worker program to encourage students ages 16 – 18 to apply to work the election polls. Ms. Sands encouraged the students to complete the application and include a short essay as to why they would be interested in the program.
