Academic UIL Program

Flour Bluff High School has proven success in University Interscholastic League Academic Competitions. Students may compete on the following teams: math, science, calculator, number sense, journalism, ready writing, debate, oral interpretation, theatrical design, extemporaneous speaking, literary criticism, spelling, social studies, computer science teams and computer applications. The One Act Play cast and crew are also a successful part of our award-winning academic team. We also have Academic Decathlon and Octathlon teams at the high school level and a Pentathlon team at the junior high school.

Other successful academic teams at FBHS include Mock Trial, the Visual Arts Scholastic Event, National Forensics League, BEST Robotics, Distributive Education Clubs of America (DECA), Business Professionals of America (BPA), and Health Occupations Students of America (HOSA) teams.

NJROTC Program

Flour Bluff High School has been a Navy Distinguished Unit with Academic Honors since the 1994-1995 school year. The Navy Manager for NJROTC has indicated that there is no program anywhere in the nation that is as well rounded and as well run as the NJROTC program Flour Bluff ISD. The unit strives to be leaders in Community Service, in Cadet Involvement, in Academic Achievement, in Competitive Teams, and these efforts are coupled with similar strengths in every other measurable criteria of excellence.

Hustlin’ Hornets Athletic Program

Through a variety of interscholastic sports and allied activities, the Flour Bluff Athletic Program creates a positive arena for young people to develop skills, attitudes and attributes that will provide opportunities for student athletes to become strong, forthright, competitive leaders as adults.
