2nd Annual Athletics Hall of Fame Inductees announced

The Flour Bluff Athletic Hall of Fame announced the 2017 inductees which were recognized during the Flour Bluff High School homecoming game.

“The Flour Bluff Athletic Hall of Fame was established to create a lasting tribute to those who have brought honor to themselves, their school and our community,” said James McMinn, Flour Bluff ISD Assistant Athletic Director.

An induction ceremony took place following a dinner on October 12. In addition, inductees were presented at half-time during the Flour Bluff High School football game at Hornet Stadium on October 13.

This year’s members include:

  • Lance Jones (1982-1986)
  • Roger Durden (1981-1984)
  • Jimmy Parker (1962-1966)
  • Billy Cofer (1962-1966)
  • George Parker (1968-1975)
  • Ester Franco (1971-1974) 
  • 1979-80 FBHS Girl Basketball Team (Marcia Boyer Frederick, Susan Claborn Watts, Carol Shields Cox, Lynn Collins, Sheila Wiggins, Susan Okenfuss, Kathy Dean, Tina Buttler Ousley, Joyce Carwile, Robin Beauregard Felts, Joan Visosky Murray, Coach Mike Fountain, Coach Nancy Busby and Coach Vicki Krebs

The Hall of Fame was established in October 2016 and with five charter members. Members of the Flour Bluff Athletic Hall of Fame include athletes, coaches, and distinguished service recipients for current and past service at Flour Bluffs schools.


Flour Bluff ISD schools and facilities will be closed Friday, January 21st, 2022, due to severe weather conditions. The latest weather updates are indicating a high probability of freezing temperatures and precipitation that may create hazardous road conditions Friday morning.

All extracurricular activities (including athletics) will be canceled for the morning of Friday, January 21st. With temperatures currently expected to increase through the day on Friday, extracurricular activities scheduled for the afternoon may continue unless otherwise communicated by coaches or teachers/sponsors.

Flour Bluff ISD faculty and staff should not report to work on Friday, January 21st unless directed by your supervisor. Thank you for your patience as we assessed the situation. We ask that you please stay safe and warm in this winter weather. Flour Bluff ISD will resume its normal schedule on Monday, January 24th, 2022.
