Flour Bluff ISD Student Transfer Information

Transfer Requests

Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, students who reside outside the boundaries of Flour Bluff ISD can apply for a transfer into the district tuition-free. The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees changed the district policy to provide more educational opportunities for families. Click here for frequently asked questions regarding the elimination of the out-of-district transfer tuition.

Upon recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board shall designate the number of transfer students and the grade levels or campuses that will accept transfer students.

A nonresident student wishing to transfer into the District shall file an application for transfer each school year. Students who attend a Flour Bluff ISD school as an out-of-district transfer shall be granted a transfer for one regular school year at a time.

Flour Bluff ISD offers tuition-free transfers for students who reside outside the boundaries of the district. A student who resides outside the attendance boundaries of the District may apply for a transfer subject to availability of space and contingent upon review of the student’s disciplinary history, attendance records, grades, and scores on the state-mandated assessment or other appropriate standardized assessments. The District shall also take into consideration any extenuating circumstances. Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, all transfers will be tuition-free.

    Priority Transfer

The following nonresident transfer students may request a priority transfer based on transfer requirements outlined above:

    1. A resident student who has completed his or her junior year at the District high school and becomes a nonresident.
    2. A student whose parents anticipate residency within 60 days. Proof of potential residency must be provided at the initial time of enrollment, with a follow-up in 45 days. If residency is not established in 60 days, the student shall be withdrawn.
    3. A student whose parent is employed at the Naval Air Station in an active military position.
    4. A secondary student who resides in an adjacent district that does not provide a secondary school program.
    5. A student whose parent is employed on a permanent status or is a tenant of the base at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station or the Corpus Christi Army Depot.

  • Transfer Request Process

Upon recommendation of the Superintendent, the Board shall designate the number of transfer students and the grade levels or campuses that will accept transfer students.

The Board reserves the right to accept or reject any transfer request, provided that such action is without regard to race, religion, color, sex, disability, or national origin.

If you are interested in applying for transfer, please complete the Transfer Interest Statement and the Transfer Application and return to the Central Office Receptionist. The date and time your complete application was received will effect the order in which it is considered.

Each transfer application shall be evaluated on the following criteria:

    1. The application is complete.
    2. The student has at least a 90 percent attendance rate for the past two years.**
    3. The student has not been suspended, assigned to an alternative disciplinary education setting, or expelled during the past two years.**
    4. The student has passed all sections of the STAAR test during the past two years. If a student was not eligible to take the STAAR test, this criterion shall be based on other standardized testing or state assessments as appropriate. The District shall take into consideration any extenuating circumstances.**

The following nonresident student transfer requests will be given priority:

** Please supply FBISD with as much documentation as possible regarding these requests. Also, please make sure you keep copies of the above criteria for your records to enroll at the campus because the copies attached will be kept in Administration Office.
