Re-Opening FBISD

In mid-March, Flour Bluff ISD had to flip the classroom and move all instruction on-line with the closure of school until the end of the school year due to COVID-19. Since that time, Districts across the state of Texas have been grappling with rapidly changing circumstance, requirements, and recommendations from local, state and federal officials regarding resuming instruction and re-opening schools for the 2020-2021 school year.

This reopening plan is a fluid document that will be updated as circumstances surrounding COVID-19 change including directives from governing authorities, health officials and the state of the global pandemic. The number one driving force behind decisions regarding the re-opening of our schools is the health, safety and well-being of the students, staff and community of Flour Bluff ISD. Our priority has been and will continue to be to provide the highest quality of instruction while keeping our students and staff safe and healthy.

The Re-Opening Task Force has guiding principles to help prepare for re-opening schools that considers all options available for districts. The guiding principles include:

  • Establish re-opening health and safety guidelines that align with local, state and national requirements to mitigate the spread of COVID-19 with-in the buildings and community of Flour Bluff ISD.
  • Develop in-person and online instruction that aligns with the Texas Essential Knowledge and Skills (TEKS) and continues rigorous instruction and progress monitoring that can be carried out across multiple learning platforms with minimal disruptions to the learning progress for students.
  • Ensure the social and emotional well-being of students and staff is met by continuing to provide services that meet all needs.

Finally, we look to our parents as partners in this ever-changing and unique time. Your continued support and feedback are paramount in developing the best educational experience for our students. We welcome your questions or feedback. Please help us keep the lines of communication open by communicating with Flour Bluff ISD via our Contact Us web form.
