Flour Bluff ISD is proud to announce that our Primary, Elementary, Intermediate, and High School campuses have been awarded the prestigious Purple Star Campus Designation from the Texas Education Agency (TEA). This honor recognizes our district’s commitment to supporting military-connected students and their families.

The Purple Star Campus Designation is an award given by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) to Texas districts and charter schools that meet specific criteria for supporting military-connected families. Each fall, TEA awards the Purple Star to applicants who meet the following criteria:

  1. Designate a campus-based military liaison who must:
    • Support military-connected students and their families.
    • Provide professional development opportunities for staff members on issues related to military-connected students.
  2. Create and maintain an easily accessible webpage with information for military-connected students and their families.
  3. Implement a campus transition program that includes:
    • Introductions to the school environment and processes.
    • A student leader or ambassador program, supported by a campus-based staff member.
    • Organizing and hosting newcomer social events, guided tours of the campus, and accompanying new students to lunch during their first week of school.
  4. Offer at least one of the following initiatives:
    • A resolution showing support for military-connected students and families.
    • Participation in the Month of the Military Child or Military Family Month.
    • A partnership with a school liaison officer to provide opportunities for active-duty military members.

At Flour Bluff ISD, we understand the unique challenges faced by military families. With Corpus Christi’s strong naval presence, our community is home to many military personnel, making it essential for our schools to foster a welcoming and supportive environment for their children. The Purple Star Campus Designation highlights the hard work of our dedicated educators, counselors, and staff in ensuring that military-connected students receive the support they need to thrive academically and socially. As we celebrate this achievement, we look forward to continuing our support of military families and enhancing the resources available to ensure their success.
