Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education (CTE) prepares students for high-demand careers by blending academic learning with real-world technical skills, supporting both college and workforce readiness. Guided by the Texas Education Agency’s Division of College, Career, and Military Preparation, Texas CTE programs offer structured pathways, certifications, and work-based learning aligned with national standards and today’s evolving economy.

P-TECH is an education model that blends high school, college, and career training, allowing students to earn a diploma, an associate degree, and industry certifications.

4 Year Plan

The 4-Year Plan outlines a student’s chosen endorsement and Program of Study, mapping required courses from freshman through senior year. It helps students stay on track for graduation while aligning their coursework with college, career, or workforce goals.

Career And Technical Education Staff

Our Career and Technical Education staff bring real-world experience into the classroom, equipping students with practical skills, industry knowledge, and the confidence to pursue high-demand careers. Through hands-on instruction and meaningful mentorship, they help bridge the gap between education and the workforce.

The Mission of the Hornet Community is to foster and empower students to become confident, productive members of society who pursue excellence with integrity.

Goals

To offer every student career learning experience prior to graduation that empowers them to succeed and earn certifications to compete within a competitive global economy. Provide CTE support and recognize student and staff achievements. Work in partnership with local businesses and the CTE Advisory Council, to promote work-related and job shadowing opportunities related to CTE programs of study.
