Career and Technical Education

Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides students with real-world coursework that prepares them for high-demand, high-skill careers. CTE programs combine academic standards with technical knowledge and skills, preparing students for both higher education and emerging careers.

The Texas Education Agency’s (TEA) Division of College, Career, and Military Preparation (CCMP) ensures all high school students have access to quality pathways leading to college, career, and military opportunities. Through collaboration with industry and education partners, CCMP develops comprehensive programs that include course sequences, certifications, and work-based learning to help students succeed in high-wage jobs.

Programs of Study, launched in the 2020-2021 school year in response to the Perkins V Act, ensure Texas students meet national standards and have access to CTE pathways aligned with the modern economy.
