FBISD Welcomes Congressman Cloud

United States Congressman Visits FBISD

U.S. Congressman Michael Cloud recently visited Flour Bluff ISD to experience firsthand the remarkable achievements of our students and staff. His visit showcased the district’s innovative programs and highlighted FBISD’s strong connections to the Flour Bluff, Padre Island, Corpus Christi Army Depot, and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi community.

The Congressman began his visit being welcomed by Superintendent Chris Steinbruck at the Hornet Aviation Program, where high school students are learning aviation technology and building their own aircraft. Program instructors and students shared how they gain valuable technical skills, teamwork experience, and a pathway to aviation careers through this one-of-a-kind opportunity.

Next, he met with members of the award-winning Flour Bluff NJROTC, who proudly demonstrated the discipline, leadership, and unity that have made them both state and national champions. Cadets shared stories of teamwork and service that reflect the heart of the program and the spirit of Flour Bluff ISD.

The visit also included a stop at the district’s own wetlands—an outdoor learning laboratory that allows students to study environmental science in a living ecosystem right on campus.

One special highlight of the visit came when Congressman Cloud met junior Gloria Harris, a student artist who was recognized as a winner in his 2024 TX-27 Congressional Art Competition. Her art piece, “Birds of a Feather,” will hang in his Washington, D.C., office for a year. Gloria finally had the opportunity to meet the Congressman in person and take a photo in front of her artwork.

Also in attendance were special guests Port of Corpus Christi Chief Operating Officer Colonel Kyle Hogan and Naval Air Station Corpus Christi School Liaison Joe Holder.

Congressman Cloud’s visit highlighted the diverse educational experiences Flour Bluff ISD offers, from technical and scientific exploration to leadership, service, and the arts. His time with students reflected a shared belief in education that builds future leaders with Class, Pride, and Heart.
