Flour Bluff ISD Announces Free and Reduced-Price School Meal Program for 2026-2027 School Year

Flour Bluff Independent School District has announced its policy for providing free and reduced-price school meals to eligible students for the 2026-2027 school year.

Letters regarding meal benefit eligibility and application requirements were distributed to households beginning July 1. Applications for free and reduced-price meals are available at the Flour Bluff ISD Central Kitchen, located at 2505 Waldron Road in Corpus Christi, or at any Flour Bluff ISD campus office.

Students may qualify for free or reduced-price meals based on household income or through automatic eligibility if the household participates in certain assistance programs or the child meets specific program qualifications.

Students may qualify if they:

  • Live in a household with income at or below the federal eligibility guidelines.
  • Live in a household receiving Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF), or Food Distribution Program on Indian Reservations (FDPIR) benefits.
  • Are identified as foster, homeless, runaway, migrant, or displaced by a declared disaster.
  • Are enrolled in Head Start or Even Start programs.

Households applying based on income must complete an application and provide:

  • The names of all household members.
  • The amount, frequency, and source of current income for each household member.
  • The last four digits of the Social Security number of the adult signing the application, or indicate that no Social Security number is available.
  • The signature of an adult household member certifying the information is accurate.

Flour Bluff ISD works with local agencies to identify students who automatically qualify for meal benefits. Families of eligible students will be notified directly and do not need to complete an application. Households that believe they qualify but do not receive a notification should contact the Nutrition Department. Families who wish to decline meal benefits may also do so by contacting the department.

Applications may be submitted at any time during the school year. Eligibility information provided by households is used solely to determine meal benefits and may be verified by school officials.

Applications are reviewed by the district’s Nutrition Department. Families who disagree with an eligibility determination may first discuss the decision informally with the reviewing official. Those wishing to file a formal appeal may submit a verbal or written request to:

Families experiencing changes in household circumstances, such as job loss or an increase in household size, are encouraged to contact the district, as these changes may affect meal benefit eligibility.

The letter must contain the complainant’s name, address, telephone number, and a written description of the alleged discriminatory action in sufficient detail to inform the Assistant Secretary for Civil Rights (ASCR) about the nature and date of an alleged civil rights violation. The completed AD-3027 form or letter must be submitted to USDA by:
