We have some thrilling news to share! The Flour Bluff ISD Board has officially approved the purchase of 15.9 acres of land adjacent to the north end of our cherished wetland pond. This acquisition expands our existing 52-acre preserve, originally gifted by Dorothy Arnold, a dedicated advocate for education who worked alongside Superintendent E.J. Wranosky.

This new addition not only ensures the long-term protection of our incredible outdoor classroom, but also preserves a unique learning environment that has inspired generations of Hornets to explore careers in Marine Science and deepen their love for nature.

This expansion is a huge win for our community, safeguarding the wetlands while continuing to spark curiosity and passion among our students. We are also reinforcing our strong partnerships with institutions like Texas A&M Corpus Christi, ensuring our students have access to top-tier educational resources for years to come.

Flour Bluff ISD is actively pursuing grant opportunities—including TGLO, CMP, and GOMESA, as well as other fund-matching programs—to reimburse the district for this purchase within the next fiscal year. These grants will help ensure fiscal responsibility while delivering outstanding educational benefits to our students and community alike.

In addition, we’re continuing discussions with community partners like the Audubon Outdoor Club, Master Naturalists, and Youth Odyssey to expand educational opportunities for everyone in the Flour Bluff area.

Stay tuned for the full press release with more details once the contract is finalized. This is just the beginning of exciting things to come!
