Flour Bluff ISD received five Gold Star Awards, one Silver Star Award and one Bronze Star Award for excellence in school communications in the areas of website, print, and marketing. In addition, the District received three Best of Show Awards, with the District website winning a Best of Show award. The awards were announced at the Texas School Public Relations Association (TSPRA) Star Awards Celebration on February 22 in Frisco, Texas, during the organization’s annual conference.
Each year, TSPRA recognizes communicators in school districts, education foundations, education associations and organizations for their work in print and electronic media categories. A total of 1,331 entries were received for the 2017 Star Awards with the majority being separated into divisions based on the number of students in the district – under 10,000; 10,000 to 30,000; and over 30,000 students.
Independent judges, not affiliated with TSPRA, evaluate and score each entry based on its own merit. Bronze, Silver and Gold Stars are awarded based on set criteria. Finally, the judges review their highest scoring Gold Star winners and select a Best of Category for each division in each of the main categories.
“It was a great night for Flour Bluff ISD,” said Kim Sneed, FBISD Public Information Officer. “We are proud to be able to bring home these top awards. Our team is grateful to the Superintendent, Board of Trustees and community for their continued support which allows us to showcase all the great things going on in Flour Bluff ISD.”
