By July 31, 2018September 29th, 2022No Comments

Flour Bluff Athletics is excited to announce an addition to the sports program that will help promote the organization’s successes on and off the field. Flour Bluff High School graduate, Tyler Bills, joins the program as the new Athletics Sports Information Technologist. Bills will be providing updates on all Flour Bluff Athletics via social media platforms, online and through various printed publications.

Flour Bluff ISD Athletics was looking for a new and exciting way to promote the accomplishments of past, present and future athletes; coaches; and staff. According to Chris Steinbruck, Flour Bluff Athletic Director, the idea grew to enhance what was already taking place on social media and incorporate more web and broadcast coverage of athletic events.

“We have the most dedicated and connected fans,” said Coach Steinbruck. “I’m excited to have Tyler on-board to keep our hornet fans up-to-date on  scores, schedules, game analysis and team and athlete achievements.”

You may already be familiar with Bills and his coverage of Flour Bluff sports. Over the past few years, he has been keeping Hornet sports fans dialed in on Facebook and Twitter.

“I started during my sophomore year posting information about Flour Bluff athletics on various social media platforms,” Bills said. “Much like I did during this last year, I will be providing live coverage, game statistics, scores and player updates.”

In addition to social media, Tyler will be writing and posting stories about Flour Bluff athletes, facilities and team news on the District and Athletics websites. Currently, work is underway on a new and improved athletics website. The new site will have quicker score updates, more athletic news stories, enhanced photos and videos. Tyler has already begun writing news stories. Check out his latest, “A Diving Success” and “Two Lady Hornets Shine at All-Star Game.”

Flour Bluff Coach, Bob Chapman, will also be assisting Tyler in the design and launch of the new site. The new site is expected to be up sometime after the start of the school year. In addition, Coach Chapman is kicking-off a new class at Flour Bluff High School, Sports Information and Marketing. The goal is to involve students in the coverage and broadcast of Flour Bluff athletics.

“We want to teach our students about all aspects of sports media and journalism,” said Coach Steinbruck. “This new class gives them real-world experience and helps our students begin their future in a career in marketing, broadcasting or journalism.”
