Nine Flour Bluff ISD teachers were surprised in their classrooms today with checks totaling $14,600.00. Members of the Flour Bluff Foundation for Educational Excellence awarded seven grants for innovative, learning opportunities in classrooms at the Early Childhood Center, Primary, Junior High and High School campuses.
Since the Foundation began in 2004, the organization has awarded over $295,000 in grants to Flour Bluff ISD teachers and campuses. The foundation’s mission is to provide resources to campuses and teachers by promoting quality education by establishing, supporting and enhancing programs not otherwise funded by the Flour Bluff Independent School District.
Earlier this fall, teachers were given an opportunity to apply to receive grants for engaging learning opportunities. A Foundation committee then determined which grants to award funding. The grants awarded included funding for programs such as stand-up desks for students at the high school, family reading event at the Primary and sending Junior High teachers to space camp.
The Foundation will again award grants in the spring. Deadline to apply is the second Monday in February. Click here for more information.
