The Coastal Bend Bays Foundation (CBBF) proudly announced the winners for the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation’s 17th Annual Conservation and Environmental Stewardship Awards. Flour Bluff Intermediate teacher, Janice Ainbinder, was the Education – K-12 award recipient.

“As a science teacher at Flour Bluff Intermediate School for many years, Janice has been involved with many students,” according to information released by the CBBF. “Teaching science is more than providing kids concepts and tools for learning science. To her, it is the day to day (and night to night) realization that science is everywhere and all the time.  Science never takes a break.  All one needs to do is to keep the senses sharp and observe whatever each occasion presents.”

CBBF’s Awards Program recognizes and honors outstanding Coastal Bend citizens, educators, businesses, governing bodies and other entities. According to information from the CBBF, winners are selected based on their significant contributions in the areas of habitat conservation, enhancement, protection, restoration or preservation of the Coastal Bend’s precious natural resources, or in educating the region’s youth and adults about the importance and value of their natural surroundings.

Mrs. Ainbinder has been a teacher in Flour Bluff ISD for over 12 years. A Texas Master Naturalist, she teaches 5th Grade regular and GT science at Flour Bluff Intermediate. Mrs. Ainbinder co-sponsors the Flour Bluff Intermediate Junior Master Naturalist program at the campus and helps to instill a passion for preservation and conservation in her students.

Janice Ainbinder was recognized and officially awarded the Conservation & Environment Stewardship Award during the Coastal Bend Bays Foundation’s annual banquet on November 12.
