Flour Bluff Independent School District (FBISD) Superintendent Brian Schuss has announced the selection of Dr. Allison Schaum as the District’s Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction. The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees approved the appointment at the June 28, 2018, Regular Meeting of the FBISD Board of Trustees. Dr. Schaum is currently the Director of the District’s University Preparatory High School (UPHS) program.
Dr. Schaum has 15 years of educational experience. In addition to her current position in FBISD, she taught at Flour Bluff Primary, Elementary and Junior High campuses, served as an Assistant Principal at the Intermediate campus and was a Curriculum Supervisor. Prior to coming on-board at FBISD, Dr. Schaum was a teacher in Corpus Christi Independent School District. In addition, Dr. Schaum was an adjunct professor at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi for the Department of Curriculum & Instruction.
“I am excited to bring Dr. Schaum on as the Assistant Superintendent for Curriculum & Instruction,” said Brian Schuss, FBISD Superintendent of Schools. “Her experience and passion for education and her established leadership in the District makes her a perfect fit for this position.”
Dr. Schaum holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a Master of Science degree in Reading from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. In addition, she holds a Doctorate of Philosophy degree in Curriculum & Instruction from Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi.
Dr. Schaum will begin her new role in mid-July. She replaces Dr. Alicia Needham who retired at the end of the 2017-2018 school year.
