Beginning with the 2019-2020 school year, all Pre-K and Kindergarten students at the Flour Bluff ISD Early Childhood Center (ECC) will receive free breakfast and lunch. The campus qualifies to operate the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) under the U.S. Department of Agriculture which allows the school to serve all students at the campus free meals.
Flour Bluff ISD participates in the National School Breakfast and Lunch programs which offers students nutritionally balanced lunch and breakfast meals daily. Currently, the District also serves breakfast free-of-charge to students who attend Flour Bluff Primary, Flour Bluff Elementary and Flour Bluff Intermediate campuses.
“We’re excited to be able to offer free breakfast and lunch for our youngest students,” said Flour Bluff ISD Superintendent Dr. David Freeman. “We know that students who are well-nourished learn better. This addition to our school nutrition program will ensure Pre-K and Kindergarten students are on the right path to a healthy start at school.”
Under the Community Eligibility Provision at the Flour Bluff ECC, the campus will no longer have to collect meal applications for free, reduced-price and paid student meals which helps ensure all students receive a nutritious breakfast and lunch. Staff and visitors at the Early Childhood Center will continue to pay the designated meal price.
