Red Ribbon Week celebrations taking place districtwide

Each year, schools across the country and right here in the Coastal Bend promote the importance of being drug-free. For one week in October, also know as Red Ribbon Week, teachers and staff take the opportunity to encourage students to commit to a drug-free and healthy lifestyle. 

In Flour Bluff ISD campuses have organized various activities each day of Red Ribbon Week set to be celebrated across the District October 23 – 31. Activities include dress up days, lessons on staying drug-free, guest speakers and various events.

Below is a listing of districtwide activities set in recognition of Red Ribbon Week:

Early Childhood Center (celebrating October 28 – November 1)
Monday, October 28: “Sock It to Drugs” – Wear crazy socks to school
Tuesday, October 29: “Put a Cap on Drugs” – Wear your favorite hat to school
Wednesday, October 30: “I’m a Jean-ious because I say ‘NO’ to drugs!” – wear Red today with your favorite pair of jeans
Thursday, October 31: “Who Needs Drugs? Just give me a book!” – Storybook Character Parade: Bring a favorite book from home and come dressed as your favorite storybook character.
Friday, November 1: “Peace Out to Drugs” – Wear Tie-Dye and Peace sign attire

Primary School (celebrating October 28 – November 1)
Monday, October 28: “Too Bright to do Drugs” – Wear neon clothes and sunglasses (Fire Safety Awareness Assembly)
Tuesday, October 29: “Peace Out to Drugs” – Wear tie dye clothes (Red Ribbon Pledge/Picture)
Wednesday, October 30: “Red Ribbon Week Awareness” – Wear Red (Spikey Mikey Magician)
Thursday, October 31: “Show Great Character, Say No to Drugs” – Dress up like a book character (Book Character Parade)
Friday, November 1: “Team Up Against Drugs” – Wear sports shirt/hat (Law Enforcement Assembly)

Elementary School (celebrating October 28 – November 1)
Monday, October 28: “Shade Out Drugs!” – Wear your cool sunglasses to “Shade Out Drugs”
Tuesday, October 29: “TWO Cool for Drugs” – Pick a friend and dress like twins
Wednesday, October 30: “RED-Y to put a Cap on Drugs” – Wear red and a cap
Thursday, October 31: “Drugs Won’t Find Me” – Wear Camouflage attire
Friday, November 1: “Lei Off Drugs!” – Wear your favorite Hawaiian attire

Intermediate School (celebrating October 28 – November 1)
Monday, October 28: “Crazy Sock Day” – Sock It To Drugs
Tuesday, October 29: “Crazy Hat Day” – Shade Out Drugs
Wednesday, October 30: “Wear Red Day” – Red Out Drugs
Thursday, October 31: “Camouflage Day” – Fight Back Against Drugs
Friday, November 1: “Team Spirit Day” – Team Up Against Drugs

Junior High School (celebrating October 28 – November 1)
Monday, October 21: “REaDy to be Drug Free!” – Kick-off Red Ribbon Week wearing RED! Must be in school dress code
Tuesday, October 22: “Too Smart to Start!” – Impress your peers with your BEST NERDY outfit!
Wednesday, October 23: “Pair Up Against Drugs!” – Come to school “twinning” with your favorite pal
Thursday, October 24: “Team Up Against Drugs!” – Wear your favorite sports team shirt or jersey
Friday, October 25: “Peace Out, Drugs!” – Wear tie dye to say, “Peace Out, Drugs!”

High School (celebrating October 21 – October 25)
Monday, October 21: Announcement (History of Red Ribbon Week); Drug Free sucker for each student
Tuesday, October 22: “Send a message – Stay Drug Free”; Write your drug-free message on the wall posters in the 100 Hall
Wednesday, October 23: “Wear Red Day” (A tribute to Red Ribbon Week)
Thursday, October 24: “Sock it to Drugs” (Wear crazy socks)
Friday, October 25: “We CAN be drug free” – Can food drive
