FBISD Community…

As a District, we want to make you aware of some important information regarding Superintendent Dr. David Freeman.

Over the past few months, Dr. Freeman has been dealing with some health issues. To help him take the time to focus on his health, the Board of Trustees has asked former Superintendent Joe Kelley to step-in and provide leadership until Dr. Freeman is able to resume his duties.

“I am honored to be asked to help out with this tough situation,” said Joe Kelley. “I pledge to work with the outstanding FBISD team to keep the district on-track and rolling the right direction. We will be getting some answers out to you soon on the reopening of schools. My heart, thoughts and prayers go out to Dr. Freeman and his family.”

Mr. Kelley served Flour Bluff ISD as principal of Flour Bluff High School from 2001-2005 and as superintendent from 2013-2016. In January of 2019, Mr. Kelley returned to FBISD as Interim Superintendent and also helped lead the District’s search for a new superintendent. Dr. Freeman was named Superintendent of Schools in July of 2019.

We ask that you keep Dr. Freeman and his wife, Cassie, and their three children in your thoughts and prayers during this very difficult time. We look forward to his safe and healthy return.
