On Friday, March 26, the Flour Bluff Junior High Treble and Tenor-Bass Choirs performed for University Interscholastic League (UIL) Choir Concert/Sight-Reading Evaluation. Both choirs received Superior Ratings (Sweepstakes) which is straight 1’s.
“They sang their hearts out,” said Michael Perez, Flour Bluff Junior High Choir Director. “It was a long journey especially since we didn’t go to UIL last year because of COVID-19, but the kids persevered and united together.”
The UIL choral sight-reading evaluation encourages the extension of knowledge in basic fundamentals of music and rewards the consistent use of a systematic approach to sight-reading. The primary purpose of the commissioned sight-reading music is to test musical literacy at specific levels.
