Volunteers are the heart and soul of Flour Bluff ISD, dedicating their time and energy to make a difference in our school community. Their selfless contributions drive positive change, whether it’s through organizing events, supporting school programs, or lending a hand in times of need. Volunteers embody the spirit of generosity and commitment, working tirelessly to uplift our students, staff, and families, creating a brighter, more connected environment. Their efforts not only benefit others but also foster a sense of fulfillment and purpose in their own lives, strengthening the Flour Bluff ISD family.
FBISD Volunteer Guidance:
- Volunteer registrations are approved for a single school year, expiring on 6/30/2025 for the 2024-25 school year.
- All volunteers for the 2024-25 school year, must apply/reapply after 7/1/2024.
- No volunteer shall serve as athletic coaches and/or assist in any athletics practices or games.
- No volunteer shall cover a classroom by themselves.
- All volunteers or guest speakers must complete the FBISD Volunteer Registration Process.
- No volunteer or guest speaker may use the classroom to promote their own clubs or organizations without principal approval.
- No volunteer or guest speaker may take photos of students without principal approval.
- Although initially screened and approved by FBISD Human Resources, each Campus Principal has the final approval of Volunteers at their campus.
- Volunteers with multiple students within the district, only needs to complete one application.
FBISD Volunteer Registration Process:
1. Complete and submit the online Volunteer application.
2. All registrations must include the applicant’s correct name, social security number, date of birth and a physical address.
3. The application will be used to run a nation-wide background check.
4. If there are any background check issues, the application will be reviewed by the Human Resources department.
5. Applications are normally approved within 1 to 5 business days.
6. Approved applicants may then go to any campus with a valid photo ID (current Driver’s License.)
7. If necessary, campus’ will print the District Policies and Confidentiality Agreement for the volunteer’s signature, and keep on file (at the campus) with a copy of the Volunteer’s Photo ID.
8. The Volunteer will be issued a campus ID Badge.
FBISD Volunteers
Anyone who helps on campus during operating hours or at any school-sponsored function when the job involves the potential to be around children must register and be approved as a FBISD Volunteer. This includes the following (must register):
- Any booster club member: academic, athletic, music
- Chaperone’s (on campus and/or field trips)
- Guest speakers
- PTA executive boards that meet on campus and not in the presence of campus staff
This does not include (does not require registration):
- Visitors
- Parent/guardian having lunch with “own” child
- Attendance at after-school PTA meetings and/or events
- Attendance at athletic events and/or awards assemblies
Other
Any person whose volunteer registration process indicates that he/she has been convicted of or received probation for certain crimes may not be eligible to serve as a volunteer for any school-sponsored or school-related activities. Such crimes include, but are not limited to:
- Criminal solicitation of a minor
- Criminal homicide
- Kidnapping and unlawful restraint
- Sexual offenses
- Public indecency
- Assault offenses
- Stalking
- Robbery
- Theft
- Manufacture, delivery, or possession of a controlled substance, including marijuana
- Making firearms accessible to a child
- Any offense involving a child
All applications are subject to the same scrutiny as applications for employment through the FBISD Office of Human Resources. All applicants may be subject to review at any time, at the discretion of a campus and/or FBISD.
