Pre-Kindergarten Eligibility
Texas Enrollment requirements for Pre-Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Unable to speak and comprehend the English language;
- Educationally disadvantaged, which means a student eligible to participate in the national free or reduced-price lunch program;
- Homeless, as defined by 42 United States Code (U.S.C.) Section 11302, regardless of the residence of the child, of either parent of the child, or of the child’s guardian or other person having lawful control of the child;
- Child of an active duty member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who is ordered to active duty by proper authority;
- Child of a member of the armed forces of the United States, including the state military forces or a reserve component of the armed forces, who was injured or killed while serving on active duty;
- Have been in the conservatorship of the Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) following an adversary hearing;
- Child of a person eligible for the Star of Texas Award as a peace officer (3106.002), firefighter (3106.003), or emergency medical first responder (3106.004).
Kindergarten Eligibility
Texas Enrollment requirements for Kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year:
- Must be five (5) years old as of September 1, 2019
Social Security Numbers
The Texas Education Agency requests that each student have a social security number which will become his/her school identification number. Please have your student’s social security card available at registration.
Proof of Residency
Texas law states that only minors whose parents/guardians reside within the boundaries of the school district are entitled to attend school in that district, unless approved for a transfer. Proof of residency must be provided each year at registration.
Usual accepted proof of residency may be one or more of the following:
- Current utility bill (such as water, electric, cable) dated 30 days of registration indicating the service address and the parent/guardian’s name on the bill. Cell phone bills will not be accepted.
- Current rental/lease agreement and the parent/guardian’s name on the rental/lease agreement.
- Current tax receipt indicating home ownership and current residency in the district and the parent/guardian’s name
- Letter from a governmental agency with a current date and current address and the parent/guardian’s name
- Current contract on a house (provided that loan has been approved and signed by both buyer and seller)
