FBISD clarifies misinformation reported by local news station

By September 10, 2020No Comments

During a recent newscast on KIII News Channel 3, a reporter inaccurately reported information regarding the Flour Bluff ISD reopening of schools. The news story indicated that we would be conducting COVID-19 testing of students and staff. In addition, the story reported incorrect dates of when students are returning to on-campus instruction at FBISD campuses. Finally, the story stated that our reopening plan included testing students and staff daily. All of this information is inaccurate.

Here are the facts…
On-campus, in-person instruction for students begins Monday, October 5. Beginning Monday, September 14, we are welcoming approximately 50 of our Functional Academic, Special Education students to our campuses. These students need additional time to become accustomed to the new requirements of in-person instruction due to COVID-19. Our Reopening Plan outlines the processes and procedures once students return to on-campus instruction. This information can be found on our website. Please click here to review the information

We want to sincerely apologize for any confusion this may have caused our community. We have a variety of communication channels in-place to ensure you–our students, parents, staff and stakeholders–receive the most accurate and up-to-date information on our operational plans. We have and will continue to always communicate to our community first any processes and procedures that are put into place.

We appreciate our local media outlets for their work to keep the community informed. We ask that you refer to our website, social media, email and other communication channels first for District information.

As always, we appreciate your continued support. We look forward to the planned return of all students to our campuses.
