Flour Bluff Independent School District (FBISD) Superintendent, Brian Schuss, has submitted a letter of resignation to the FBISD Board of Trustees. Mr. Schuss has accepted the Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources position for the Katy Independent School District.

During a Special Called Board Meeting on Friday, November 16, the Board of Trustees accepted the resignation of Mr. Schuss and named former Flour Bluff ISD Superintendent, Joe Kelley, as interim superintendent.

“The decision to leave Flour Bluff ISD has not been an easy one,” said Schuss. I’ve been part of this great community for over 10 years. However, the time is right for my family and myself to make this next move in my career. Flour Bluff will always hold a special place in my heart. I am beyond grateful for the opportunity and support I was given by the students, staff and community to lead this district.”

The Flour Bluff ISD Board of Trustees will begin the process of a search for a new superintendent of schools. The Board will begin the superintendent search process in January.

Mr. Schuss will stay on as superintendent of schools through December. Joe Kelley will serve as interim superintendent beginning in January. Mr. Kelley led the District as superintendent of schools from 2013 to 2016 before retiring in July of 2016.
